See, I am surrounded by amazing people. AMAZING.

I have so many examples of faith, happiness, strength, and righteousness

literally doorsteps away.

I also have some of the most wonderful friends in the whole world-

so right now I am feeling so blessed.

A few weeks ago, one of those AMAZING gals called and

asked if I could snap a few pictures of her sweet Tenley Jane.

That is were my photographic heart is.

I love everything about families, from the crazy kids

to the stressed out parents!

I know full well that getting family pictures done can

be an event.

Clothes, hair, makeup, everyone cleaned up,

snacks, wipes, locations, weather, money,

husbands, 2 year olds....

It is an event, but one that I absolutely love

and hope to be able to photograph forever.

In my opinion, the crazier the better.

I sort of thrive off craziness.

I mean I haven't slept in like a 14 months and

I am surviving off diet coke alone

(and trying to ween a nursing baby who LOVES nursing. TMI, sorry...).

My life is crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

So don't feel bad if your session is crazy-

the crazier the better.

I am loving how my sessions are coming along,

and so excited for my {fabulous!} clients to see them.

I think you sometimes take a risk calling

some random gal up to take pics of your family,

so I hope I don't disappoint and that you

love them.

I fell in love with him. I sometimes worry that

my clients think I'm crazy because I totally

I always say it- I'm sure your sick of hearing it.

On that note, my little guy isn't such a baby anymore

and it breaks my heart.

Just this morning when I checked in on him while

we was napping he had his binky

in ELMO's mouth. Such a nice boy...

He is wild and crazy and climbs on everything

and can crawl so FAAAAST! He is always

making us laugh.

I love him.

Sorry, ok, so this little cutie belongs partially to my

fabulous wonderful sister. Like for a couple hours a day.

And I'm not sure if I should post them, but I couldn't help

it. I love them and happy that our impromptu shoot had some gems.

I love it when that happens. And I think Lilly's moma

will love her Christmas present!!

My kids, they are fabulous.

I live in a safe, warm, happy home.

I always get a little nervous when posting a session on the ol blog. I may love the pictures and think the session a complete success, I can only hope that my clients feel the same way. Basically I have been hired to make a piece of art work for a family that will hopefully go in their home and make them happy each time they look at it. That is my hope for every session at least. I adore family and child sessions, they make me so happy! And next year I hope to be able to really customize my sessions to be exactly what my clients want.

That being said, take a look at these guys! I love when sessions are relaxed and fun. That is what I had with the Froer's! They were game for anything I said, it was a happy session and I love the end results.

Wowza folks! I have been working my head off. October was insane - in such a fabulous way! And I am so excited to say that I have about 2 spots available in November and then I will be BOOKED! I am loving it guys, LOVIN IT! I hope you have too. I have so many sessions to blog about it's crazy. Hopefully you all can be patient with me as I get everything edited. I would like to think that I can magically edit 30 pics for you in one night, but that's not the case, sadly. So because quality is important to me, your edits are taking clear up to 3 weeks....

So on another note, things around Jeanette Soffe Photography are gearing up to change. Starting January 2012, prices are going up. Sessions are changing, things around these parts are going to be super awesome; way more personal and catered, and basically a whole lot cooler. So, because I have a total LOVE for all my fabulous return clients and would be heart-broken if people stopped coming to me because of the price diff, I am offering a bunch of mini-sessions & Portrait Parties throughout the year. So for my fabulous clients that want to hear about these mini sessions and Portrait Parties before anyone else does, shoot me your email. I will send out a little "I love my Clients the Most" email to give you the chance to schedule a session before I allow any blog or Facebooker friends.

Also, I am wanting to go on a photo walk. I think photo walks are a great way to meet other photographers in your area, make new friends, get tips and pointers, and just have fun taking pictures all night. I know that other photogs read this ol blog of mine, so who's interested?! Oh, your not a photographer? YOU CAN COME TOO! Because chances are your my friend and are super cool and I want to hang out with you anyway. So, I am thinking Thai for dinner, photo-walking around SLC (or maybe Park City? I love to blog-stalk. I have many blogs that I frequent every couple of days. Mostly I love what I learn from these fabulous blogs. I am so amazed at all the talent out there, and I am so grateful for those that freely share their knowledge. There are those out there that definitely don't. It makes me sad for them, we all have to start somewhere ya know. I know that in this little photo adventure of mine I am not where I want to be. There is still A LOT of room for me to grow, and hopefully I can keep learning.

So on that note, I am here to share a tid-bit of my post processing. I would like to say I start in Lightroom, but unfortunately I haven't figured out how to use LR yet. And sadly I haven't had a Saturday to dedicate to it. So I start in Camera Raw. I adjust exposure, add a little yellow usually, a little clarity and vibrance if it needs it. Next I open the pic in PS4. From there I sharpen the image. I then run one of my fav actions. Depending on the look I am wanting I go for light and airy or more dark and bold. These actions are SO WONDERFUL! I highly recommend buying them!! From there I adjust layers (or curves). I love that I can make the background look a certain way and wipe it from the face using the paint brush.

After I get the look, I sometimes add blur, texture, or bokeh depending on what mood I am in or the music I'm listening to.... Weird, I know. It's then ready. All in all I've spent 1-4 min a picture. Pretty good from where I started! I would love to share more, so let me know if you are interested.... Or if you even read this. I have no clue...

So back in the day (ok, like 2 weeks ago) I had one of the best callings in my church. I was in the Young Woman's presidency. I served with the most amazing woman and we had the most wonderful girls (in the whole.world.). It was such a fabulous experience. Being released after 3 years has been bitter-sweet. I have absolutely loved being a part of something so big, so fun, so important. I made friendships with these young gals and the leaders that I know will truly last me a lifetime. My testimony grew leaps & bounds over these past few years and I'm pretty sure that our sweet girls helped me more than I helped them.

That first Wednesday night that I didn't have mutual was so weird. I didn't have to go anywhere. I didn't have to rush homework or dinner. I didn't have to stress about making sure that Eli was nursed before I left, or if Hadley was going to make it home by 6:30. I wasn't sad that it was going to be my 3rd day that week of not seeing Hadley due to our callings. I wasn't panicking on whether so and so got a text, while the others got actual phone calls, and knowing that someone just had to go pick up the other. Each one of our sweet girls is so different; no two stories or situations alike.

I was so thrilled when 2 of them showed up on my doorstep after school. I almost cried with delight at seeing their sweet happy faces and hearing their stories about school and life. I secretly wanted them to stay with me, have dinner, chit-chat the night away (like we sometimes did). But, they did leave to go to mutual and to meet their new (and wonderful!) leaders and I'm so happy for the girls and so happy for the new leaders. Our girls really are so cool.

So long story short if you hadn't noticed by now, I had the privilege to take some photos of our fabulous girls. All throughout the summer (and years actually) I've given them each their own session. It has been so fun for me to get to spend time doing what I love to do and hanging out with these fabulous girls. So I only have one session left to edit. And one girl left to do senior pics. Then I'll be done and it'll be sad yet happy. I am so grateful that I got to serve with these ladies and gals, and I'm excited for what the future holds for them!

And now on to some photo-sweetness. Miss Hannah is a rock-star. She is so happy, so generous, so sweet and genuine. She loves to serve and is seriously one of the most caring young woman I have ever met! (She is just like her sweet mama!!). Love ya Hannah!!

I am so excited for Fall- it's my absolute favorite time of year. I can hardly stand it as August gets closer to September, because I know that fall is right around the corner. Folks, it is turning out to be a fabulous September, don't you think? The weather couldn't be more perfect- warm days and cool nights. I even saw that the leaves are starting to change!

So far, September has been an amazing month and it's only going to get better! Starting it off was my 32nd birthday! Is that weird to put your age down for the world to see? I guess I am happy where I am at in life. And so far, being 32 has treated me well.

I have completely booked my September and most of my October for photo shoots! I have the Portrait Party coming up Friday and I couldn't be more excited! It is going to be EPIC folks- epic, and I'm excited to share those photos with you all. If it's a success I will be doing more Portrait Parties down the road...

For family shoots in October, all my weekends sessions are full {yeah!!}. I have a few week night sessions available the last 2 weeks in October, so if you are interested give me a holler. I have started booking November already {another Yeah!} and can't wait to see and meet new clients and friends.

For Newborn shoots, I have lot's of open spots so if you are having a baby, call me! I absolutely LOVE shooting newborns, they are so dang sweet. The best time to shoot them is within the first 10 days, so I am totally flexible with these sessions. Most sessions take place in the mornings at my house, but I am happy to come to you if that is easier.

As you can see, there is a lot to talk about here! I know this post is a little long winded, but I just wanted to give a shout out to everyone that helped make my birthday so wonderful. I am so blessed, seriously I am so grateful!! Thank you friends.

I know I've mentioned this before

but I do have one of the best callings in church.

It can be hard at times, but the rewards

are fabulous.

I get to see and know such wonderful girls.

I can't say that I envy them- I think that

school, life, boys, everything they are going through

is way harder now than it was when I was their age.

And I think that's what makes them all so amazing.

That they keep trying, keep coming, and hopefully

they will always remember that they are loved.

this one is my favorite of the day!

I think my cute friend Liz is amazing! She

not only is the mom to these happy hyper kids,

but she runs marathons and bikes

100's of miles and is always on the go!

I get sad thinking about it.

Glad that I'll be able to really clean my house, but sad because

The other day Lucy started talking about baptism.

I can't believe how old my kids are getting! Makes me sad.

I wish they could stay little forever

and play and have fun like this always.

I love Eli. He adores the kids

and I'm so happy that he is surrounded by kids.

He eats all the attention up with a spoon

and is in love with his cousins.

He totally was cheering everyone on and so happy!

am I blogging again? Yup!! It's been SO long, too long really. But sadly I haven't missed blogging. It has been nice having to not think about it. But there is so much I have been wanting to share and I think it's time. I just wanted to start with my favorites- my crazies. They are crazy, but in a wonderful, fabulous, funny way. There is never a dull moment, never a minute of silence, never a clean room {haha, no really} at our house this summer. But it has been good. They are good. Life is good right now.

I loved this shoot at the begining of summer. It isn't often that we do an actual shoot, so it was so fun for me. Eli is growing up too fast and it makes me sad. They all are! So, these pictures were taken in my sweet friends backyard as well as at the park a few streets over. Thank you Becky, you and John are fabulous!

it's been so long since I've posted to the blog.

I am sorry.

You could blame it on numerous things like the uploader, being busy, having 3 children,

not enough hours in the day, enjoying NOT blogging.

But I am here.

I am loving the summer with my kiddos.

I am loving all my sessions so far this season.

I have been busy and my Facebook is filling up with beautiful pictures of fabulous sessions that I am so happy about. There are a lot of things in the works in regards to my photography.

I don't know why I keep having issues with blogger. I think I try to post at least every other day and it doesn't let my pictures post. Even my smarty-pants techi hubby can't figure out why. So in the mean time I have been posting pictures like crazy to my Facebook account.
